6 months!

So I am now 25% done with the mission. Crazy to think that it is going by so fast. It fells like I just left. I can tell that I have changed alot in the last six months and that I still have alot to change for the next 18.
This week was alot better. I did get to do an intercambio con Elder Palacios. Hes from Peru but is pretty much fluent in English and has a bit of an Australian Accent cause of his old comp. Hes really cool and we get along super great.
Oh random fact. The main moving company here (like U-Haul) is named UTAH. I always forget what it stands for but I always laugh when I see a truck.
Heres a few pictures of me at the mall, Me with my scipture cover, and me with some Pony Malta. Pony Malta is the wierdest thing. I didnt like it at first but its grown on me. Its made of Barley and supposedly tastes like beer but its nonalcoholic and has been oked with the mission office. Its really good for an energy boost.
Oh and there is another Elder Moore coming in November. I'm pretty bumbed. He's from Washington is what the Office said. They think its funny that we will have "more Elder Moores". But of course they say it in spanish.
Everyone should keep me updated and send me awesome emails and letters haha.

It's A Miracle!

It was a miracle! We have had one investigator ready for baptism for over a month but she has wanted to wait for her parents to come to town. But they never can. We had a miracle of the ZL getting her to agree to be baptized last week. But then on Thursday she had some issues and it looked like it was going to get postponed another week. But on Saturday at about 1 she called and told us she wanted to be baptized today or Sunday if it was possible. So we got to planning and we got the baptism. It was cool cause she is the first investigator to specifically ask that I baptize them. The other have just been that they didn't care so we took turns. But she said she wanted me to do it. It was really cool.

This was a much needed miracle. Cause before this, I was kinda miserable. I was mad and annoyed with a bunch of little stuff. But this really helped me to be in a better mood and really get stuff done.

We did have our "fiesta de guayaquil" this week. It went really well. We got about 16 references and there were about 300 people that came. We had a bit of the miracle of the food going on. They ran out of Chicken pretty fast so by the time we got there there was only rice and pork (we cant eat pork) so we had some good hills of rice for lunch that day haha.

I do love working with Elder Sanchez and Elder Murillo on Sundays. They are great guys and are working in the office. Also its never a bad idea to be great friends with the financiero y materiales. So that has been nice. They are great elders though.

Oh and Sunday the family of our baptism had a lunch to celebrate. So we had some great food there. First time in a while that i have had trouble finishing my food. haha That's what one of the pictures is of. All the people at the "party"

July 22, 2013

I am in shock. I seriously couldnt believe it when I read about Annie's death.

I really dont know what to say. I am still processing what has happened. I always thought i would be able to joke with Annie when i got back. Wow. I told Pres. Dennis in the weekly email and i will see what happens with that. All my complaints from the week seem so small right now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So first of all Im glad to say that there is a rule change in the mission. We can now email friends and converts! So everyone should e-mail me at mason.moore@myldsmail.net. It would be super cool.
Ive been pretty discouraged this week cause it looks like we wont have any baptisms this month. Everyone is falling through. We have an investigator who wants to be baptized and serve a mission, but she wants to wait till her family can come and they arent coming till August. And everyone else has big challenges like drugs, alcohol or need to be married. So I am really struggling. But working with Elder Sanchez on Sunday was really cool. He is from my group and is working in the Office. So teaching with him was great. We get along really well and are always joking around.
Im really having a hard time focusing today but I was glad to talk to Elder Brady at CityMall today. I really wish that he was in the West Mission. But i guess there is a reason for everything.
Oh but the other day i saw the greatest thing. We were in the car with the Ward Mission leader and when i saw it in the street i was so excited that he stopped the car and thought somehting had happened. It was a t-shirt that had the old Big Blue Utah State logo! But it had been photoshoped to say "Barcelona" instead of Utah State. Barcelona uses a Bull for their logo. So it was the greatest shirt I have seen here and pretty sure it breaks some sort of law but really cool.

OOOOOeste! (West Mission)

So this week has been pretty cool. We had a zone conference on saturday that was pretty much a final farewell to Pres. Amaya. Elder Paredes is pretty bumbed to not be working with him. I think he would have chosen to be north but hes got a great attitude about being in the West. We havent met Pres. Dennis yet. But fun news, we will now have 8 missionaries in my ward... 8. The secretaries and assistants will be in our ward because it is the closest to the mission office which is in front of the temple and we are the border of the north and west missions. So hopefully the ward really gets some references going fast.
Today was a active P-Day. We got premision to go to the Iguana Park in centro. IT was really cool. There are just iguanas walking around and some turtles and some fish too. Its also infront of a really old catholic cathedral. So i got some cool pictures.
We then went to the mall and i got me a new bag cause my 9 dollar bag just isnt cutting it. I got the "mission" bag its a bag that everybody has cause its the perfect size to get everything in there. I got a goldish yellow one. I was really excited cause i saw Elder Brady there. Sad to find out he got transfered the next day to the North Mission. So it looks like its me, Costello and Johnson that are "going west."
I also put on here some pictures of my apartment.
Things really are going pretty well though. We have the problem of people who want to be baptized but arent in our ward. So we get to figure that out. They come on Sundays to visit family but live elsewhere. They are pretty cool though.
It looks like we will be getting everyone ready for the 13th. We should be busy with that and we could fill the goal really pretty fast.
This past week i got letters though! The other elders where joking that i was getting too many. I got 8 letters and a package. So thank you, Paula, Alex, Mom, Kelsi and Kacie. It was really great to hear from everyone. So i went to try and look into sending letters back. Turns out it is crazy expensive. The lady told me it would be 30-40 dollars for one letter. So im going to ask around for the best way to send them back. But im trying!
My main trail right now is just that i feel we waste too much time. We get home late and some times i feel we should be doing more. So im working on that right now. But i know that everything will work out just fine.
